About NYACC

About Us

The New York State Chapter of the American College of Cardiology (NYACC) was founded in 1990, but our history in New York is much older. In fact the American College of Cardiology (ACC) was started by a group of physicians from New York. The Chapter was formed for the purpose of contributing to the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and ensuring optimal quality of care for individuals with such diseases.

We function, in consultation with ACC’s leadership, as an adviser to governmental and professional organizations regarding cardiovascular disease. We also provide continuing medical education programs of the highest caliber; are involved in socio-economic, reimbursement, and legislative issues that influence access to high-quality cardiovascular care for all individuals; and we maintain a high level of social consciousness.

NYACC represents the various interests of cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and other medical specialists, and its members represent the cardiovascular community on state medical boards and present views to state regulatory agencies and third-party payers.

We have been formed as a 501(c)(6) not-for-profit corporation under the federal and New York State tax codes.

Mission Statement

“The purpose of the Chapter shall be to contribute to the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and to ensure optimal quality of care for individuals with such diseases. In carrying out these purposes, the Chapter shall function – in consultation with the leadership of the College – as a source of advice to local and state governmental and professional organizations concerning issues related to cardiovascular disease. The Chapter shall, in the interests of patients, physicians and the public in general, maintain a high level of continuing medical education, social consciousness and involvement with socio-economic factors which may influence access for all individuals to high quality cardiovascular care.”
