Dear Colleagues,

The end of the year offers an opportunity to highlight the progress and activity across the New York Chapter of the ACC and our committees. Our community has been busy, and the past few months brought meaningful engagement, education, and collaboration.

Earlier this year, the Reiss Odenheimer Lecture offered guidance on providing sensitive care to our patients while considering cultural and religious differences, helping clinicians navigate complex treatment decisions. Our CVT Symposium and the DEI Task Force Heart to Heart event at FEC Community Queens provided additional opportunities for learning and community engagement. The Women in Cardiology Committee hosted two “Walks in the Park” events, bringing members together for networking, career advice and wellness.

September brought innovation and inspiration with our annual Shark Tank event, which included the Young Investigator Competition. This year we had a record number of research abstracts and clinical cases submitted; our Shark Tank participants delivered impressive and creative presentations judged by Dr. George D. Dangas, Dr. Pierre Elias and Dr. Hima Vidula; and we were proud to recognize Adarsh Balaji, MD, Rafael Harari, MD, and David Zhang, MD for their outstanding contributions.

This fall, Dr. Vijay Iyer and I were honored to be invited to represent our Chapter and to speak at the Argentine Society of Cardiology (SAC.25) Annual Congress, sharing insights and discussing nuances in cardiovascular care delivery with our colleagues internationally. We also extend our thanks to Dr. Julio Panza for leading the Argentina Observership Program and for his dedicated service on the Council.

In October, our Advocacy Committee represented the Chapter at the ACC Legislative Conference in Washington, DC. This annual event offers a key opportunity to engage directly with lawmakers and advocate for policies that impact our profession and patient care.

December featured the Sir James McKenzie Lecture, where Dr. Pierre Elias discussed the impact of AI on cardiology, and the Tale of Two Chapters program with the Argentina Chapter offered valuable international viewpoints about management of complex cases. Please also save the date for the New York Chapter reception at ACC.26 on March 29, 2026. More information will be shared soon.

The Chapter continues to encourage engagement across committees and is actively looking for members to take on the next CVT Representative roles – one for upstate and one for downstate – helping expand involvement and contribution across our community. Contact [email protected] if you would like to nominate yourself or someone for the role.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to the Chapter. Wishing you a happy holiday season. We look forward to another year of learning, networking, and achievements together to improve the care of our patients.

Warm regards,

Dmitriy N. Feldman, MD, FACC, FSCAI
